....Aaaaaand I Have No Life Whatsoever

At http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/member/birthdayno1.php, you can look up what the Number 1 song was on the day you were born, or really any other day. You can also cross-reference the US and UK charts. I decided to go all out and create a soundtrack for my life, at least as far as birthdays go:

 “Love You Inside Out”-the BeeGees
 “Funky Town”-Lipps Inc.
 “Bette Davis Eyes”-Kim Carnes
“Ebony and Ivory”-Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder
 “Flashdance (What a Feeling”-Irene Cara
 “Time After Time”-Cyndi Lauper
“Everybody Wants to Rule the World”-Tears for Fears
“On My Own”-Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald
 “Always”-Atlantic Starr
 “One More Try”-George Michael
 “Wind Beneath My Wings”-Bette Midler
 “Hold On”-Wilson Phillips
 “More Than Words”-Extreme
 “Jump”-Kris Kross
“That’s the Way Love Goes”-Janet Jackson
 “I Swear”-All 4 One
“Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?”-Bryan Adams
 “The Crossroads”-Bone Thugs-n-Harmony
“I’ll Be Missing You”-Puff Daddy and Faith Evans (although I prefer the UK charts #1, “Mm Bop”-Hanson)
“The Boy is Mine”-Brandy and Monica
 “Livin’ La Vida Loca”-Ricky Martin
 “Maria Maria”-Santana
 “Lady Marmalade”-Christina Aguilera and friends
 “Foolish”-Ashanti
 “21 Questions”-50 Cent
 “Burn”-Usher
 “We Belong Together”-Mariah Carey
 “Ridin’”-Chamillionaire Feet. Krayzie Bone.

Sadly, the closer these years get to the present, the less likely I am to know who the artist is, or what the song is. By 2006 I am completely lost, although I do recognize the much-overplayed 2005 song. I think I must have completely tuned out from pop music around 2001. And perhaps rightly so, because whenever I try to tune back in, I hear songs with lyrics that include "lovely lady lumps." And then I switch the channel.

I posted this on my blog - and it generated an awful lot of conversation - isn't that hysterical?

My theme song is "When you see me walking by, and the tears are in my eyes, look away, baby look away..."

That's so sad!
